[Mayan EDMS: 2188] email error

hi all

installed mayan via docker image

all set up, working great for scanning invoices and paperwork, but i
can't get email functioning.

tried creating a mailing profile in docker setup, and also tried editing
settings manually in /var/lib/docker/volumes/mayan_data/_data/settings/
local.py

either way, i get the following error when sending a test email:

SERVER ERROR
There's been an error. It's been reported to the site administrators via
e-mail and should be fixed shortly. Thanks for your patience.

not likely, email is broken, lol!

anyhow, i had docker execute a shell, looked at error.log:

common.middleware.error_logging <11686> [ERROR] "process_exception() line
17 Exception caught by request middleware; <WSGIRequest: POS
T '/mailer/user_mailers/1/test/'>, [Errno -2] Name or service not known"

could anyone shed some light on how to set up email or further
troubleshoot this error?
