Hello Mayan users. I just published a post detailing the added changes in
what will be Mayan EDMS NG version 3.0. The post includes animation to help
convey better the nature of the changes.

Some of what you will see in the next version:

Thanks! We want to squeeze a few more tiny changes but are pretty much
ready. We will release this version soon.

I’m excited for all of these changes!

I currently use Mayan 2.7.3 installed via PyPI. Is there (will there be) an upgrade path to Mayan EDMS NG 3.0? I get the feeling that I should just be able to install NG, configure it to point it at my current Mayan database and file storage and run the migrations.

Glad to hear that! You are correct, that is pretty much the upgrade path.
Keep it mind that with each version we are losing a bit of compatibility
with Mayan EDMS upstream. Once you migrate your database to Mayan EDMS NG
you can rollback, but you have to do this manually by specifying the last
Mayan EDMS migration number for each app. I suggest you backup your
database and test Mayan EDMS NG extensively before committing to it.
However, once you see what we've included I'm sure you won't want to go
back!
